Shearing 2007,
Taylor and I decided to do the shearing ourselves this year.
As it was difficult being available when the professional shearer came to the island.
Firstly, I built a tilting shearing table out of tubular steel that was formally part of a portable garage.
This idea had merit but not much else. The steel tube was to thin and collapsed upon placing the first Alpaca on it!
My second attempt was overly built using 2x6 lumber. Solid and holds an Alpaca just nice.
The restraining belt was part of a lumbermill feed belt, very strong.
This photo shows 'Courderoy" securly fastened to the table.
This next photo shows Rhett's Diamond after shearing with handler Kendell and Oberon in full fleece with handler Carly.
